Deep within the core zone of Phong Nha – Kẻ Bàng National Park, the cave system of Hang Pygmy and Hang Over reveals the remarkable scale of the region’s karst landscape. Hang Pygmy is recognized as one of the largest caves in the world, with chambers so vast they resemble an underground valley. Reaching this area requires trekking through primary forest, crossing limestone terrain, and descending by rope into the cavern. Natural light enters through massive ceiling sinkholes, creating skylight openings where vegetation can grow inside the cave. Camping within this environment allows a closer look at limestone formations, underground water flows, and a cave ecosystem that exists largely isolated from the outside world.

The journey to conquer Hang Over and Hang Pygmy (the 4th largest cave in the world) opens up the ultimate adventure experience in the heart of Phong Nha. You will cross the primeval forest, swing in the giant cave space and camp right underground - where the light is only a thin ray from the mouth of the giant cave. Every step brings you closer to the wild and majestic beauty that very few people have ever touched. This is a journey for those who truly desire to explore their own limits.
Plan
- 1DAY 1: Phong Nha - Hang Over - Hang Pygmy13h07:30 – 09:00: Pick up at Phong Nha, move to Jungle Boss headquarters to meet the group and disseminate safety information, then continue by car to km24 on Quyet Thang Road. 10:00 – 16:00: Trek through the forest across Wind Hill and Lươn Hill, explore the 3.2km long Hang Over, visit the Massive Attack cave, then exit the back door of the cave to access the sinkhole leading to Hang Pygmy 1600 – 21:30: Rope swing 10m down into the heart of Hang Pygmy, set up camp at the cave entrance – one of the most unique camping areas in the world, then have dinner, rest, and socialize.
- 2Day 2: Pygmy Cave - Jungle trek - Phong Nha7h0800 – 09:30: Breakfast, pack up and take commemorative photos at the cave 09:30 – 14:00: Trek through the forest across Co slope and have lunch on the way 1400 – 15:00: Arrive at Quyet Thang Street 20, enjoy cold water, then return to Jungle Boss headquarters, bathe, and end the journey
What You Need to Know
Terms & Conditions
- Age: 15 - 65 years old
- Physical condition: good health; not suitable for people with cardiovascular, respiratory, bone and joint diseases or fear of heights
- Personal clothing & equipment: 2 sets of quick-drying long clothes, pajamas, swimsuit, 2 pairs of high socks, sandals/flip flops, medium backpack, hat, glasses, sunscreen, insect repellent and personal hygiene items. Dry bag and trekking shoes are not required but recommended.
Experience: no professional experience required but need to be physically fit, familiar with long forest walks
- Safety & companionship: Tour guide - safety assistant - service staff accompany the whole journey; support for rope/rope walking and full safety equipment
- Additional notes: The journey includes 20km trekking, 4.5km cave exploration and 10m rope swing. Each guest is supported to send 3kg of luggage to the porter. There are free loan shoes (size 37-45), but you should bring your own shoes to fit your feet.

- 50% refund: cancel before 72 hours - 168 hours (3 - 7 days)
- No refund: cancel within 72 hours (3 days) before departure date
- Reschedule: supported if notified 07 days in advance, depending on availability
